Albany Capital Center General Manager Doug McClaine Receives the American Cancer Society’s Voice of Hope Award

McClaine among three honorees at Capital Region Coaches vs. Cancer Basket “Ball”

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Capital Center’s general manager, Doug McClaine, was honored Tuesday, September 19 at the annual American Cancer Society Capital Region Coaches vs. Cancer presented by SEFCU at the new convention center in downtown Albany.

McClaine was one of three community leaders to be recognized by the organization at the 2017 Coaches vs Cancer Basket "Ball" co-hosted by the Siena and University at Albany Men's Basketball Programs.

“I’m deeply humbled by this recognition as cancer has impacted all of us in some way, shape or form,” said McClaine. “I’m a supporter of this organization and what it stands for and thank the sponsors of this fundraiser and all of the people who came out to support the cause and make it a success. It’s a privilege to share the evening with the other honorees.”

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Other honorees included Notre Dame’s Mike Brey who received the Inspiration Award. Mary Ann Donnelly of SEFCU, who passed away from ovarian cancer recently, was recognized posthumously with the Fighting Spirit Award.
