Albany Capital Center Renews Management Contracts

The Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) has announced a renewed venue management contract with ASM Global, the world’s leading venue management and services company.  The term of the agreement is for five years.  ASM Global has simultaneously renewed its contract with Mazzone Hospitality, the region’s premiere catering, banquet and hospitality company as its exclusive food and beverage provider.

“ASM proved its ability to market the Albany Capital Center, bring new business to Albany, and in so doing significantly increase the economic benefits to the Capital Region from events held at the Albany Capital Center.  Its sound management approach has many clients returning and the ACCA Board was confident in its decision to renew the management agreement as together we look forward to even greater success for the center in the future” said Michele Vennard, ACCA Board Chair

The Albany Capital Center, unlike many event venues nationwide, remained open amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The ACC team, persisted to book business in an array of formats from socially distanced, in-person events to hybrid and virtual events. Due to its commitment to remain accessible to its current and potential clients, the Albany Capital Center was able to bid and win contracts such as providing a training facility to Black Watch Premier Soccer Club, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Volleyball Championships (Spring 2021) and New York State Public High School Athletic Association Volleyball State Championships (Fall 2021).

“The resources provided by ASM Global and Mazzone Hospitality have been instrumental in our success since our opening.  We’re thankful for the opportunity to extend our partnerships to instill confidence in our clients especially in these times of uncertainty.” said Doug McClaine, general manager, Albany Capital Center.

“We look forward to an ongoing relationship with the Albany Convention Center Authority as its facility management company over the next five years,” said Bob Newman, chairperson, ASM Global. “It has been our privilege to work with the Authority and Discover Albany and continue to recognize their facility as a high-performing member of ASM Global’ s diverse portfolio.”

“Mazzone Hospitality is proud to be extending our partnership to remain the exclusive food and beverage partner at the Albany Capital Center,” said Angelo Mazzone, president and founder, Mazzone Hospitality. “The ACC team has proven to be one that strives for and expects excellence. Mazzone Hospitality will continue to be as flexible as possible while keeping the health and safety of our staff and customers our top priority. As we do not know exactly when we will be on the other side of this pandemic, we do see hope. Our commitment is that we will be ready when the time comes.”

The facility continues to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and government guidelines, enhancing already stringent standards with the development of ASM’s Venue Shield program. VenueShield is a comprehensive and best-in-class program, deployed at ASM Global managed facilities, providing the highest levels of sanitation and safety in partnership with industry experts as well as public health officials. In addition, the facility has ensured procurements for temperature kiosks found at the entrance of the venue, contract tracing and more. The venue has already booked 40 events to date for 2021.
